Lead Software Engineer

Pixel Sprout Studios is looking to add a Lead Software Engineer to our Engineering team to program new features, fix bugs, and drive development for Sun Haven and future titles. We would like to add a member to our team who is able to autonomously program single-player experiences, as well as contribute to networking architecture. 
 

The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who has prior experience in multiplayer networking, leading and forecasting progress on timelines, and receiving and giving consultations to other programmers to improve code stability, rigor, and sustainability. This position will require an individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and work with others on multiple projects at a time.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Producers, Game Designers, and other Engineers to establish hundreds of intertwined software features into finished game titles

  • Deliver a functioning game build on a project every 3-4 weeks 

  • Regularly anticipate, forecast, and report to the Production team on potential pitfalls and implementation inefficiencies

  • Teach, support, and assist members of the team to improve their technical skills when needed

  • Drive the primary progress towards creating sustainable tech for the development of 1 game title at a time

  • Drive the assessments and creation of tools, tech advancements, and reduction of technical debt across multiple titles

  • Drive primary progress on hardware and memory optimizations for multiple titles

  • Oversee triage efforts on incoming bugs for an entire game title

  • Maintain familiarity with Sun Haven's world and design


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience coding in C# and creating working software in Unity

  • Experience working with networking and coding for online multiplayer games

  • Experience with delivering fully functioning code to Live players

  • An extensive repertoire of video game familiarity

  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skill

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Windows, Mac, and Nintendo Switch development experience

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to produce consistent software updates

  • Experience in building games in Unity for multiple platforms

  • Experience with Agile development processes

  • Experience creating macros and other ad-hoc tools

 

Pluses

  • Extensive knowledge of games in similar genres to those produced at Pixel Sprout Studios

  • B.S. (or higher) degree in Computer Science or equivalent
